“They’re here”- to rewrite Poltergeist

According to Variety, MGM has hired the writing team of Stiles White and Juliet Snowden to pen the obligatory remake of Poltergeist. Originally scripted by Steven Spielberg (and others) and directed by Tobe Hooper, the 1982 PG horror movie told of a family being tormented by the ghosts trapped in their home. Craig T Nelson and JoBeth Williams played the parents of the character Carol Anne their daughter (played by Heather O’Rourke) who uttered the seminal words “they’re here” as the entities communicated through the television. Poltergeist is widely considered the best ghost story of all time and is a classic in horror cinema.
