Ennio Morricone is without a doubt one of the finest composers of the last fifty years and one of the most versatile the cinema has ever had. He defined the sound of the giallo and perhaps most memorably the Spaghetti Western. Ennio became world famous with his scores for Sergio Leone’s Dollars films but perhaps unknown to the average cinemagoer Leone was not the only Italian director to receive the Morricone western treatment. This countdown is a list of what in my opinion are the definitive Italian Western soundtracks composed by the master, Leone and otherwise.
