If all the films just announced at Cannes wasn’t enough for you, Sony has just won a bidding war over the film rights to the beloved 30’s comic strip, Flash Gordon. For those of you who don’t know Flash’s backstory, he was a polo player who was kidnapped and taken to the planet Mongo, where he fought against its evil ruler, Ming the Merciless. He’s also been the basis for several films, the latest in 1980, starring Max Von Syndow. and Sam Jones.
