Cruise and Raimi team up for DC Comics “Sleeper”

Created on August 19th, 2008 by Caustic

Sleeper

As the Super Hero movie fad continues to snowball, Tom Cruise is still trying to get a horse in the game. After striking out as the would-be Ironman, eventually adroitly played by Robert Downey Jr., he is now making a go at the DC comic book series “Sleeper.” Sam Raimi will be teaming up with Cruise to attempt an adaptation.

Valkyrie Moves Back Onto The 2008 Slate

Created on August 14th, 2008 by Horrorholic

After being moved from this August to next February, Valkyrie is again being moved, though this time in our fuhrer… I mean favor. After a recent test screening that “went well”, MGM has opted to move the film back into the late year timeslot, which is normally used for family and Oscar films. Considering MGM is a shell of the former studio they used to be (what do they have now? Rocky, Bond and this?), expect them to campaign this film rigorously to the Academy.

Salt” the new spy thriller. I’m totally down with doing whatever it takes to get the film made, and Jolie is not the worst actress they could have picked, but besides box-office cash, what other reason could there be for bringing her in and completely rewriting the script? Oh, and that A-list actor she is replacing is Tom Cruise. So, I can’t say I’m exactly upset with the choice, but there’s a ton of other choices the studio could have gone with for this little switch-r-roo. Read on for some more.

Top Gun (1986) Blu-Ray

Created on July 31st, 2008 by Horrorholic

Rating: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

I feel the need… the need for speed.

With dialogue like that, combined with a quintessential 80’s soundtrack and an approach that showcased the might and superiority of the U.S. during the final days of the Cold War, its no wonder that Top Gun has gone on to become a decade defining film. If that wasn’t enough to make this an interesting look back to our favorite decade of decadence for you, it also features the performance that took Tom Cruise from an interesting up-and-comer to an A list actor the second it hit screens, not to mention it marks the restart of a now prolific action director’s career.
